Just to cover the basics-

You would need a commercial if you were going to be "for hire" i.e. they are paying for your services. If they are going to pay you, then you need to have an aircraft that is certified for that. For example, 100 hour inspections. If you get into the regs, you will find that you could all pay a "pro rata" share of the expenses (split all expenses equally). If you all share, then all you need is a private license.

Obviousely, I am just skimming the surface. This is just what I can remember off the top of my head.
