What were the circumstances of the crash, how many hours time did he have, how many in this aircraft? was he in VFR of IFR conditions? Was his weight and balance correct? A majority of crashes are found to be pilot error, but sometimes its just plain old mechanical failure that gets us. The FAA is the place you should look for a crash history on a specific airplane.
