Commander 114 - can it be maintained?

Hi,
After five years of C-172 ownership my husband has decided that he wants a roomer plane with a little more speed and feels the Commander 114 (the under 120K models) would be just the ticket. My only concern is some vague airport scuttlebutt that indicates they might be a challenge to maintain due to lack of available parts and qualified/interested A&P's. Our current A&P says he's never worked on one so is not much help...we live in the San Diego area. I would love to hear your thoughts/ideas/suggestions before we go any further (I've emailed two Commander owner website moderators but haven't heard anything back yet).

The numbers on it look really nice, but has your significant other looked at a Cessna 210......
