plane purchase

I am new to aviation and have a few questions on a plane purchase. I am not a pilot, and would like to purchase a 6 or 8 seat plane to take me and my family from new jersey area to south carolina, maybe 2 or 3 times a month. my budget is $300,000 to 400,000. where do i find a pilot , who do i hire to tell me what kind of plane i need. i would like a plane that gets us there in at least 2 1/2 hrs. what is the most economical plane ?does this make any financial sense and if not what are my options.
