Fabric covered aircraft

Hi,
The good news is that I may have decided what airplane I want as my first (Citabria). The bad news is that it is fabric, I live in the Southern California desert and I don't have access to a hangar.
My guess is that I should decide on my favorite affordable metal covered plane.
Would someone mind putting me out of my misery?
