Homebuilt, can (or should) it be built?
I've been flying recreationally for about 35 yrs. I got the bug to build a homebuilt, but haven't found a kit with all the features I want. Take a look at it and email your comments, Thanks

Well Mike,
It sounds like the airplane your looking for is a Lancair. This composite homebuilt is probably the fastest piston engine on the market. It pretty much satisfies all your needs. If not, then I believe this company produces some other kits you might consider. One other great homebuilt you may consider is one from the Glasair or Glastar family. If you havent already, join EAA and have then help you. Also visit Oshkosh, July28-August 3. You will see every homebuilt on the market there!

HighFlyer,
Thanks for the good suggestions. I'll have to take another look, I saw one at the '99 Sun-n-Fun. Some things that missed the target are stall speed, engine redundancy and STOL performance. It's a hot plane that can actually cruise faster than I need. Thanks again for you comments Michael |
