Angry Medical Denied

Hey everyone, new to this site and a student pilot. Have about 10 hours dual in a 172. My instructor said I'm about 4 hours away from solo so was getting excited.

Went to get my medical last Friday and was denied because I take an anti anxiety. Went on it a couple years ago due to situational anxiety but I feel that I really don't need it now but it does help me sleep and it lifts my mood so kept taking it for the past couple years.

Now, I need to wean myself off which will take about a month, then wait 3 more months amd have my doctor evaluate my condition. If fine then he will need to write a letter to the FAA explaining that I'm OK. I called Oklahoma today and asked how long does it take them to approve my medical once they get the letter but all they would say is it "depends". Not sure if this mean 1 week or 1 year.

Looking for any comments for how long this process will take or if there is any way around it. Was really looking forward to soloing and getting my PPL this summer, now it looks like I need to wait months before that will happen. Frustrated !!!

hello:

This will depend. Have you looked at the FAA website?. I tell people to find the regional flight sergon and keep in contact with them. They are usually the person in charge of your case before it gets to OAK city.

I would plan on a couple of months.
