What's your experience with length of grounding after septoplasty (deviated septum) surgery? Do you know of instances where flying too early caused problems? What kind?
If you personally experienced this, how long did your doctor make you wait after surgery to fly? |

I had the same surgery several years ago (twice). It took me about two weeks for everything to settle down. Mr. Doctor told me at least 30 day to insure I had no air pockets and the skin had healed together. I took his advice since the surgery was not a fun experience.

I agree with Denny. Besides being "dopey" from the surgery and medicine you make have the air pockets that could possible burst. I would AT LEAST give it 2-3 weeks AFTER you feel comfortable driving before you even THOUGHT about going up again. I'm sure you have 1000's of hours behind the wheel of your car and it's much easier to drive....
I had the same surgery in 2000, but was not a Pilot at the time... |
