medical cert. duration

can someone please clarify for me the duration of a 1st class med.
i have a 1st issued and want to excercise commercial privlages. the 1st was issued on 12-26-01. i know the first expires after the 6th month, but does the 2nd start then (wich would give me the full 12 mo, of use) or does it start on the date of issuance for the 1st.(giving me 6 months of use after the 1st expires)

If issued on 1/1/00

1st is good till 6/30/00
2nd is good till 12/31/01
3rd is good till 12/31/03 (or 02 if over 40.)

You CAN NOT excercise commercial privlages on the medical certiicate you have in your pocket, only PVT privlages.

I hate to say this but it's right on the back of you medical, and anyone with a commerical rating should know this already.
