Change of N Number
I recently mada a purchase agreement on a twin cessna, and part of the deal was new paint and interior. When I sent the plane to paint, I had them paint the new number on it. This was a number that I had reserved already under my name. I then found out that I can't paint that number on the plane because I am not yet the registered owner (untill friday). I have a full size decal of the old number over the new one which I'm told will suffice untill the aircraft is in my name. The problem is that when I called to find out this information, the FAA took my name so because i painted a number on a plane that technically wasn't mine. Do I have anything to worry about?

I don't believe that there is a problem here. It is generally not a good idea to be making changes to something like the registration number until you are the new owner (as you discovered). If there's some issue during the purchase (you discover a lien against the plane) then you are possibly faced with a bill to paint the old number back on. The plane should not be flown until all the paperwork is done.
