value of the Bi-Annual

Time to go find a CFI to do my bi-annual - got me thinking....

I fly about 100 hours a year in my own airplane, VFR and IFR. I've been flying for about 10 years and have over 1000 hours. The FAA requires a flight review every 24 months (unless you add a rating). This makes no sense to me, there should be some qualifiers on this. If you are current without any FAA actions what's the point? I'm going to sit in my aircraft and do step turns for someone with 1/4 the hours I have and I'm going to pay them for it.

I don't see what the FAA is trying to address with this regulation. Competent conciseness and most likey current pilots will follow this reg. If the FAA is trying to prevent someone from getting in an airplane after 10 years of not flying you realy think the bi-annual reg is going to stop that reckless behaivor. It's one of those rules that I think only those who follow the rules obey which aren't the folks that the rule is created for.

Before you think I'm a complete arrogant ass, I do realize that I most definately do not know everything and it doesn't hurt to spend some time on additional training but it just bugs me that I'm forced to do this on the FAA schdule.
