I'm getting ready to begin earning my PPL and then eventually a commercial ticket so now I'm looking for recommendations from those of you who have been in aviation and know what training facilities in the Bay Area that give quality training at a good price and which ones to stay away from. I should also mention that goal is to earn a commercial ticket and not ATP as I really have no desire to fly with the airlines.
Thanks for your help :-) |

I would suggest going to many of the local schools (aka FBOs) and taking advantage of their discovery flight option. This is the time to evaluate their equipment, their operating practices, and their instructors.
At this stage, it is more important to find a good instructor that you can communicate with effectively than it is to find a school with "a name". Good luck.

Hi Vimy:
I went to sierra academy for private thru atp. it was a good environment. I did my CFI and CFII at american flyers in hayward. I did my MEI at palo alto flying club. that was 20 years ago so I don't know what is there now. I would just take a day and drive around the bay and stop at all the airports. airfreddy
