Camping?

We are looking for more great places to fly into and camp. We like to pitch a tent by the airplane and spend some time doing the two greatest things we know. Flying and camping, in that order. Does anyone know some good places oround the west? There is a strip in Idaho somewhere that has an actual campground with a river. Any info on this particular strip would be great, but all info is good. Thanks for your reply.

If you check a magazine called 'PILOT GETAWAYS' I remember reading an issue about 2 or 3 years ago about some really nice strips in MT, ID, Wy and OR where you can fly in Mountain valley's to your approach and do carrier like landings and enjoy camp grounds. There are a few spots in the California desert where you can land and camp. One has a hotspring nearby. There is also a wonderful bed in breakfast near Eureka. The airport was on old military field. Now you land on the rwy right next to the ocean and taxi to the B&B. The are horribly friendly, make you breakfast, love to talk aviation. The even have loaner cars for you to drive into town. It's a very very fun spot. Nice walk across the rwy to the beach. Each room is decorated in a aviation them to. They do have one requirement. Before you can leave you must take your picture and hang it on the wall. It's really cool Looking at all of the people and planes that have flown in throughout the previous years to stay there. What's also neat is that you can fly to Chief aircraft in Grants Pass,Or, If you need to pick up any A/C parts or just want to check out their parts building. It's a great flight over and through the mountains.
