Post Float plane rating's

I am a Commercial Multi-rated instrument pilot with 350TT. I was thinking about getting a float plane rating, logging some time, and eventually getting a job. Any suggestions, comments or contacts would help.

Hey...why not? I'd like to get a Sea Plane rating eventually. I dream of flying between Florida and the Bahamas in a DeHavilland Beaver, transporting folks wanting to get away for a while! Maybe someday!

I love float plane flying. I recommend that you get the rating if you can afford it.

However, if you are doing it to get a job flying floats, forget it. You need 500hrs on floats minimum (keep in mind that as soon as you get your rating, you can't rent a plane solo), and unless your father or best friend can hire you there won't be anyone even willing to talk to you. Just trying to lay out the cold hard facts.

Try the Twitchell's in Turner ME,3B5. Two day float plane rating and they let you solo if you have the deductible funds for insurance. They train in 172s and are really nice people.
