$10 for 8 hours

I just recently completed an Atlanta GA, to New York x-country in a PA28-140. Upon landing at Stewart International (SWF) in NY I was informed by the only vendor supporting GA that there was a $10 charge for every 8 hours I left my airplane on the ramp. I have been to probably 100's of airports (no class B though) and have never heard of such an outrageous charge.

Anybody every hear of this billing practice elsewhere?

Yes, come to Europe and you will pay Landing fees of 10 UK Pounds and in some places parking fees. In the US you fly for free.

Without question the United States in more GA friendly than Europe. Gas prices, fees and VFR at night. I guess it is relative to what you are accustomed to paying. Thanks for the response.

Ya, that's not even crazy. Call Signature air in Las Vegas. You can pay in upwards of $50 a night before paying $2.99/gal for gas. And I'm going into San Diego Lyndberg Field International this weekend and they $20 a night with a top off! Land ain't cheap. Relate it to parking your car at an international airport. I know here in Phoenix you pay a dollar for every half hour. And that's a $20,000 car. Why shouldn't there be a charge for a $100,000 airplane. It's their land! Good luck and remember, we don't fly to save money, we fly to save time.

At meigs, its like $12 parking overnight and then $12 handling fee which is waived if fuel is purchased($3.50/gallon). They sure know how to keep traffic away.
