right seat flying

Hello pilots & friends,

I would like to transition from the left to the right seat of our Cessna 172 while acting as PIC. Is there any regulation on right seat flying as a Private Pilot; - mandatory checkout from a CFI pp.?

Greetings

I'd like to get back to flying in any seat at this point...

No, there are no endorsements or training required by regulation. Seat position as far as acting as PIC, does not matter (there are some aircraft that have left seat single pilot requirements). However (a big however), you don't want to "try this at home" without some instructor supervision. It is not a "trivial" task to fly from the other side. Personally, I had to learn to land all over again. I picked it up quickly, but it took about 15 landings to get comfortable. I made some really terrible landings from the right seat. Some aircraft only have brakes on the left side, so you might have to learn how to use the hand brakes.
