Question Airpark Homes/Hangars Texas Hill Country?

I'm getting pretty frustrated in my attempts to find a hangar home, or a hangar I can keep my 5th wheel trailer (and live in). We spend a lot of time on the road, and just aren't ready to spring for the big bucks to build, or buy, some half million dollar or more mansion that seems to be the norm for a lot of airparks. I own a lot in one airpark in the region, but with the housing bust, can't convince my wife we can afford to build a house while continuing to own a house we can't sell elsewhere. I guess she's just not fond of possible bankruptcy; I can tell we're never going to get a big bailout from the government - she's just too fiscally responsible.

I'm looking for something in the Texas Hill Country, close to Austin or San Antonio. Not out in the flat lands by Seguin or south of San Antonio. There seems to be a zillion air parks up by Dallas, but that's just too cold in the winter. I thought about Rusty Allen airport, but can't find anything indicated as being available on the internet. Guess I'll just have to drive over if I don't hear anything in this forum...

    Has anyone seen anything available?

Remember...it's got to be a place where I can keep an airplane, and I have to be able to live there (though I'd be perfectly satisfied if I could live in my fifth wheel trailer in the hangar - we've been living in the trailer full time for more than a year).

Real estate agents don't know about such things, by and large, and those that do don't cover a big enough area to be cognizant of all the possibilities. Living with your Plane, and other "airpark" websites (including Barnstormers.com) don't seem to be comprehensive (why do sellers only list on one or two websites?).

Please post if you see or hear of anything. Also, if you are looking for something similar in the same area...don't read the posts - at least not yet. I don't need a bidding war.

    Airpark Homes/Texas

    Allen:
It might br a bit far, take a look at Fort Clark in Bracketville, about 125 miles Wesr of SA. Property is cheap, they have runway, it's a gated-private community and it has a golf course.

    Allen,

I have a home and hangar in an airpark south of Dallas that will be for sale within the next few weeks for a reasonable price. Let me know if you're interested.

I've been interested in something similar. With the down turn in the economy I thought there might be a few more affordable places on the market. Are there any good web sites or places to search?
