ANTI-ICING

Is it very complicated install some systems of protection against the ice in an airplane that they lack? (v.gr.: on the planes, tail, prop)

If it is relatively possible to make it, which is it the cost of installation of these systems for a piston single?

Tanks you very much for your answers. Manuel

Normally it would be extremely expensive to add de-ice capability to an airplane that does not have it from the factory. May be less expensive to sell the plane and buy one with de-ice already installed.

what type of plane is it?

Actually, it would be cost prohibitive since adding deice equipment to such an aircraft would be a major change in it's type certificate. You would have to go through the complete set of tests, including stress testing, etc. before you could get a supplimental certificate to do it.

A similar question came up about adding another seatbelt to a four place aircraft to accomodate three children and two adults. That was the information they got and this would be a more extensive and safety critical change to the airframe.

Best bet, stay clear of icing conditions or trade the current bird on one with de-ice/anti-ice capabilities.

Manuel,
Just avoid flight into ice. I had planes with boots and never used them, because I never flew into known ice and always avoided icing conditions. Ice is usually avoidable, even if it takes a 180 degree change of course.
