The Aaliya Plane Crash-Weight a Factor?

What could possibly explain the tragedy concering the Aaliya plane crash in the Bahamas. People at work are asking me and I do not know what to exactly tell them.

You bet weight was a factor. The 402B has only about 1600lb payload with full fuel.

You better believe it. Nine people, plus all that extra bagage. It was probably aft of CG limits I'm guessing by the way it nosed in right away.

These folks are dead of the famous person sydrome(my title). All day long they are told that they can have anything anyway they want it, and normally it's not skin off their butt. Unfortunalty for them they can't change the laws of gravity, and aerodynamics.

For those of you who do now or will one day haul "rubber dog s--- over the hump," there is a very important lesson here. Sometimes as pilot in command you have to be the unpopular "jerk" that tells these people "NO!" Before you take these jobs, realize that you will have to take a stand against some very arrogant pigs and try to explain W&B to these idiots. Then get back and have your boss second guess why you wanted that much fuel on the airplane. If your not ready for that kind of pressure, don't get into a part 135 operation.

We named it Celebrity-itis when there was a rash of minor celebs killed about 20 years ago. In one case, a TV reporter talked a pilot into flying his copter with in 1/2 mile of a tornado and next to some power lines to take a photo!!

Always remember who is pilot IN COMMAND.

Heard some more news about the pilot seems he had some recent run ins with the law and was new to the company. Probably didn't want to rock the boat with big name clients and was easy to badger.

The really casualty again is avaiation, which really doesn't need all these black eyes.

its to bad the pilot was intimitated by his pax..bottom line is the pic is the person responsible for all.......but lets get real marsh harbor is surrounded by trees in a tropical enviroment (high density alt.) the plane was grossly overloaded and most likely aft cg(ever try to get a 300 lb man to the front of a 402) so any one with a ounce of sense on airplanes would know that its suicidal to even think about attempting a take off....

With several hundred hours in 400 series Cessnas, including 402's. I can tell you that as overlaoded as that aircraft was, I was surprised that it left the runway.
