Post Flying around NYC

There's a good chance that a career opportunity might move me, my family and airplance to somewhere with commutting distance of NYC from Atlanta GA. Any of you New York pilots out there know where you can tie down/hanger close to manhattan. What avgas runs in NY, hanger fees, tie down, A&P charges an hour. Thanks.

I've done some flying out of N07 (Lincoln Park) while working across the bridge in Rochelle Park, NJ. I don't think you'll find anything _really_ cheap in the area, unless you go a ways up into NJ,NY, or CT. Lincoln Park (N07), Caldwell (CDW), and Morristown (MMU) are all within about 10-15 miles of each other. Caldwell and Lincoln Park are probably about an hour from the bridge. Other options about the same distance is Linden (LDJ) in Jersey, or Westchester County (HPN) in Connecticut. These are all within the Class B. With traffic, some of these 'commutes' could be long.

There is also Teterboro, very close to the city. But my guess is that Teterboro is so corporate that it would probably be very expensive if not impossible to get something there.

If you go farther out in Jersey or NY, you could probably find some reasonable rates. Greenwood Lake in Jersey looks like a great place to fly out of. Up towards Stewart (Orange, etc...) would be a hike, but probably good to fly out of.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the move and finding a new field home.
