Got a technical question for those multi instructors out there.
Single Engine Climb gradient is expressed as a percentage. Why and what is it a percentage of? 3.3percent equals how many feet per nm? 3.3percent equals how many feet per minute Assume a climb of 120kts. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Take the climb gradient of 3.3= 198'/6000 (that's the TERPS 6000' simplified mile) It's basicly rise over run x/6000=3.3% or x=.033*6000. The answer is 198'/nm
3.3*120(Ground speed)=396fpm Hope that helps |
