I was just looking on my sectional, and noticed a controlled airport (colored in blue), but with Class E airspace surrounding it instead of Class D (with is a blue, dashed line).

The airport is Lake City, Fl. It is located just south of the Gainesville VOR.

I'm pretty sure I've seen an uncontrolled (pink) field with Class D airspace surrounding it, though I can't located it at this time.

Anyway, what would the procedure be for entering the airspace of an airport like this? Are you still required to contact the tower prior to coming closer than 5 miles?
