I am told IPC's are not to be used to perform mx, only to order parts and determine configuration.
Take a bucket full of parts and see if somebody does not use the IPC to assemble the aircraft. Does anybody have any info on the subject. reference's/regulations appreciated. |

You are correct, the IPC is not an maintenance manual and should not be used to sign off or return to service any maintenace with. The FAR references you are looking for are FAR 43.2 which says in accordance with approved standands and technical data. FAR 43.10 Life limited Aircraft Parts effective 04/15/2002 and the biggest of all FAR 43.13 states in accordance with the current manufacturer's maintenance manual. IPM's are not maintence manuals. I should mention FAR 43.9 is return to servise and you are required to refer to the apprved data used. I hope this helps.
