I have been searching for a long time and cannot find this answer. I am a Navy Pilot who is trying to figure out what my flight time is. I know this sounds silly, however, there is a point. In civilian log books, as soon as the engine turns up, you start clicking that HOBBS meter, your time starts. In the military, it's not until you take-off. So my question is, how do I convert my Military Flight time to Civilian Flight time? I have heard there is a conversion method (it's something like multiply your Military time by 1.2) does anyone know for sure?

I work for the FAA Oakland FSDO and if you want to contact me I will put you in contact with a FAA Operation pilot in our office or you can contact the closest FSDO to you. The FAA FSDO's are in the white pages of the telephone book. Yes, you can log your military time and I would rather have one of our Operations types explain it to you as many of them are former military pilots. I can be reached at (510) 748-0122 ext. 246.
