ME issues

I am working on my multi-commercial (initial on both) and running into issues. When doing the required ME solo time, I can't actually solo because of insurance, so as the FAR reads, you must perform the duties of Pilot in Command (with an authorized instructor). So if I am performing the duties as PIC, does the time get logged in dual or in PIC. Also, do I need an endorsement stating I am capable of performing those duties?

Smile Dual and PIC both OK

As long as you have passed your multi-engine check ride and are flying an aircraft you are qualified in, then you can log your instruction received in multi engine aircraft as well as Pilot in command time. No expert but I have a CFII-MEI Dave
