Forum category for pilots wanting to fly together?

Hi everyone! Was wondering if we have a forum or thread for pilots looking to fly/ train together. I think its educational and fun to fly with other pilots, not to mention reducing costs. It’s also good to know you have another pilot with you, especially while you are still new to the game. Also it would be nice to network with other pilots and meet everyone face to face.

As for me, I’m new to flying. I have a PPL, around 45 hours, and studying for my instrument rating. I’m in Orlando, Florida and like to fly out of Executive (KORL), at the Air Orlando FBO. I’d like to transition to a glass cockpit, probably the Diamond DA 40 with the G1000, an instrument rated aircraft. Anyone else flying out of the Orlando area? I have a lot to learn, and it would be fun to meet other pilots.

Welcome to the site.

Good idea about the forum. I was hoping when I get my PPL to fly with another pilot for awhile just in case I do something stupid.

For my PPL I trained in a DA20, which I did enjoy quite a bit. Our KORL FBO had 3 at the time, so usually one was available. Right before I finished my PPL I wanted to do real instrument training under IMC, so I took my first flight in a DA40 G1000. After that, I was hooked. I really enjoyed diamond aircraft and amazed with what the G1000's can do especially with the GFC 700. We now have 2 DA40’s at my FBO, but they are quite popular and a little harder to take out for the day.

Now that I’m working on my instrument rating, I’d like to build time and do fun flights. I’d like to plan one to the Caribbean, the keys, etc. Since I have to build time under the hood, I figured I should start meeting people that want to fly to fun places.

What are your experiences with the DA40? Do you rent them? Where do you like to fly out of/to usually?

New Pilots this might help

I am new here, but have been flying 33 years. Fly a Mooney. I am looking for student and newly lic pilots who want a mentor to learn and share the love of flying. Aopa does have a mentoring program, however I have never been contacted by anyone after signing up as a mentor several months ago. My plan is to link pilots with newbees to share the costs and fly in a variety of aircraft. Let me know what you think. I will be starting on the West Coast with our program.

The mentoring program sounds great Mooney! If you hear of anything in Orlando, Florida please let me know! Flying with someone with your level of experience would be invaluable.

Do you own a Mooney? How do you like it? I've always wondered what a flight would be like in one. I don't know if anyone that rents them here.
