Help! I can't fit into the plane...

Hello, What plane can hold a big person comfortably?

I'm a new student, I wanted to fly in a 152 becuse of the price, but I couldn't fit in it! (I'm 6'6" 360lbs) Though even if I could becuse of my weight and my CFI's we'd be over the weight limit of the aircraft he told me.

I ended up going up for my first lesson in a 172, and while much roomier than the 152 my legs are still cramped. Next time we'll be going up in a warrior.

I know very little about make a models of planes. Is there a roomier aircraft that I can fly... I wanted to buy a plane to use for the next year (a 152, becuse they're in my price range, but I can't fit inside the cockpit, dangit!)

Whats a good sized aircraft that I could buy for around 25k 30K on the high side? Thanks for your help in this matter.

Jay

I think you'll find the Warrior to be a little more comfortable. If you can find a Beech Skipper to rent, they have more space than the Cessna 150's and can be had for about the same price.

Zodiac 601XL for big pilots

I am 260 and 5'10" and am very comfortable in the zodiac. I sometimes fly with my friend John who is 6'2" and 300 lbs. When he gets in the plane his legs look cramped to me, but he says he is fine. The head room for him is fine.

Darter 100

I'm 6"0"" and weigh 260 pounds, My Darter has plenty of room for legs and body, It is a little short on head room. They're also cheaper to buy than a 150.

I had a friend who was about your height--don't know what his weight. He could fly a 172, but not in turbulence, as his head would hit the roof. He also had to make his right seat passenger move during crosswind landings so he could slide his kness to the side and get the movement from the yoke. He did better in a warrior & arrow. But they are harder to get in and out of. He and I sat down in a cirrus together (i'm 5'2") and we were both perfectly comfortable! Not so hard to get in and out of. There are more and more schools offering the cirrus for instruction, but the price will be higher.

The 150/152 is definately not the aircraft for you. People like the price, but it is not a very flexible aircraft for practical purposes for many, many people. I've seen a lot of people purchase one only to get stuck trying to sell the thing (getting harder and harder to sell, now) because they found out it just wasn't practical for them.
