Recreational pilot's license instead of private pilot's license?

How much easier is it to earn a recreation pilot's certificate vs. a private certificate? Last time I read the FAR/AIM, it seems:
-I only have to have 2 hours of cross-country time back and forth between an airport at least 25 miles from my home-based airport.
    -No solo cross-country time
    -No flying into controlled airspace
    -No flying at night

Will the checkride be any easier compared to a checkride for the private certificate? (I realize that with a recreational certificate, I can't fly beyond 50 miles of my home airport, can only carry one passenger, no flying at night or into controlled airspace, etc.).

    rec pilot

get your private. it will make you a better pilot and utilize the plane better. unless you just want to go in a 100 mile diameter circle your whole life

Agreed. Get the Private. Way more flexibility and you'll be glad you invested the money to make it happen.
