I am early in my flight training aswell...I am talking about today I am going to log in my 4th hour early...haha..My instructor gave me the option between the Cessna 172 and the Piper aswell..I flew both. I started with the Cessna and then i tried the piper.. I ended up choosing the piper...It feels harder to fly but I like it better then the cessna. Im used to the piper now..I also like the low-wing. But yea thats what i chose..

Are you people mad, how possibley can low wing be better, you get no view below which is more important, you have to walk over your wing to get out, if you slip you damage the plane, yourself, and look like a pleb. plus you don't need any fuel pump on a high wing, you can inspect the aileron bolts while standing, and on cessnas there is electric flaps not a handbrake style thing and TWO doors!!! Mister Cessna had a clue what he was doing, Mister piper had an epileptic fit with a glue gun in hand.

I am a low time guy and i used a 172 in the training, i have to say that yes they do in fact make for a tricky day in a strong crosswind, BUT the winds are different everywhere and i do like to see below so i would say train in the high wing.... and then play with the low wing (yeah i wanna play with an archer too!!!)
